The Launcher Is the Tool — These Are What Make It Work
A pepper launcher without the right ammunition is just a CO2-powered noisemaker. These PAVA pepper ball projectiles are what deliver the actual deterrent effect. Each round bursts on impact and releases a cloud of irritant powder that disrupts vision and breathing temporarily.
If you own the Streetwise Heat Pistol, these are the rounds it was designed to fire.
Who These Pepper Balls Are For
Anyone who already owns a Streetwise Heat Pepper Launcher and needs to stock or restock their ammunition supply. If you’ve been using practice rounds or rubber balls for training and want to load live pepper rounds, this is the standard option.
They’re also worth keeping on hand as replacements. Pepper balls do have a shelf life, and rotating your supply periodically ensures reliable performance when it matters.
Is This the Right Choice for You?
Choose PAVA Pepper Balls if you want:
- The primary deterrent ammunition for your Heat Launcher
- Area-effect coverage with a 4-foot irritant cloud per round
- A non-lethal option that affects eyes, nose, throat, and respiratory system
Consider something else if you need:
- Practice or training rounds without irritant — look at rubber balls or Quicksilver rounds
- Ammunition for a launcher other than the Streetwise Heat — these are not cross-compatible
How They Work
Each projectile is a .50 caliber ball with a stainless steel core encased in ABS plastic, filled with 5% PAVA powder. PAVA — Pelargonic Acid Vanillylamide — is a synthetic capsaicinoid that produces effects similar to OC pepper spray: involuntary eye closure, coughing, difficulty breathing, and disorientation.
On impact, the ABS casing breaks open and disperses the PAVA powder into a cloud roughly 4 feet in diameter. This means you don’t need pinpoint accuracy to create an effective deterrent zone. The cloud lingers briefly in the air, giving you time to create distance or move to safety.
These rounds are designed for the Streetwise Heat’s CO2 propulsion system. Do not attempt to use them in conventional firearms or other launcher platforms.

Practical Details
Each tube contains 10 rounds. Dimensions per tube: 0.6 x 0.6 x 5.3 inches. Total weight: 0.1 lbs. Compatible exclusively with the Streetwise Heat Pistol Pepper Launcher. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the PAVA compound. Covered by a 1-year warranty. Not available for sale to minors or in restricted jurisdictions — check your local regulations before ordering.
If your Heat Launcher is loaded with anything other than pepper rounds, it’s not functioning as a pepper launcher. These are the rounds that give it purpose.
How many rounds should I keep on hand?
That depends on how you use the launcher. At minimum, keep enough to fully load your launcher plus one spare tube. If you practice with your launcher regularly — which is a good idea for familiarity — you’ll want additional tubes for that purpose. Many users keep 2-3 tubes of pepper balls for live use and use rubber or Quicksilver rounds for practice.
Do pepper balls expire?
The PAVA compound can degrade over time, especially if stored in heat or direct sunlight. While there’s no hard expiration date stamped on every tube, rotating your supply every 1-2 years is a reasonable practice. Fresh rounds ensure the powder disperses properly and the irritant effect is at full strength.
Can I use these indoors?
You can, but be aware that the 4-foot irritant cloud doesn’t discriminate — it will affect anyone in the area, including you. In enclosed spaces, the PAVA powder lingers longer and spreads more. If indoor use is a consideration, think about ventilation and your own exit route before deploying.
